the truth is the dirt

You might have recognized her from her participation in popular runway shows, but Karen Elson is more than a former model. She is a founding member of The Citizens Band a theatrical – cabaret oriented project band based in New York which is known for the spectacular shows.
Her dark gothic style and her soft voice are two of her main characteristics that you will not forget when you see her.
In February 2010, it was announced that Elson would be releasing her debut solo album The Ghost Who Walks, produced by her husband, Jack White.
The album received good reviews, Karen Elson was credited for both her singing and song writing abilities in the genre of gothic-folk and country. Some of Elsons songs, like ‘Lunasa’, are even associated with pagan and celtic music.

When a modern minimal sound is blended with the abstract lyrics of an experimental singer, then the music development is as if it came straight from heaven. “ Glasseris the artistic name of the American singer-songwriter Cameron Mesirow. She has worked with great producers and after hours of recording she released her latest album named Ring. It seems that sometimes magic and music can be found in one person.
Credits for this wonderful video with the amazing lighting & direction to Carlos Charlie Perez

The name “Glasser” was inspired by “a midnight vision of a figure hovering over water”.

Don’t Look Back

They first met on the set of the film The Go-Getter, in which Zooey had a starting role. The director, Martin Hynes, introduced them to each other and asked them to sing a duet together to be played at the end credits of the film. The two bonded and decided to record Volume One. Influenced from the ’60s, a modern folk sound with romantic lyrics that were written by Zooey and produced by M.Ward.
On Volume Two, their choice of cover songs echoes the themes in Deschanel’s original material. Again a successful mix of great sounds that share a great balance of happy and sad, a trademark of She & Him. Vintage style, wonderful album cover, romantic lyrics and retro sounds you will definitely fall in love for them!

Undertow

Warpaing has gone through many changes from the time childhood friends Theresa Wayman, Emily Kokal, and sisters Shannyn Sossamon and Jenny Lee Lindberg started this group until the time Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer joined them. Nevertheless, the band weaves intricate guitar lines, hypnotic vocals, and driving post-punk rhythms into gorgeous, sprawling songs that skirt the line between the soundscapes of psychedelia and intimacy. Enjoy!

Nobody Knows You When You’re Down and Out

JOSH WHITE (1914 – 1969) was the artist that influenced hundred other artists with his music (from Elvis Presley, Nat King Cole, Eva Cassidy and more ) since he was responsible for introducing black folk, blues and spiritual music to white America and the rest of the world. He became massively known from his performances at the Cafe Society, due to those he drop the attention of the New York society. In addition, he used his fame to create and develop relations between blacks and whites, making him a national figure and voice of racial integration in America.
He died in 1969 of heart disease and other compilations at the age of 54.
Josh White was the first black artist to give a White House Command Performance (1941) among other equally important things, he was one of the closest black confidants and advisors President Roosevelt for black social reforms, that is why he was blacklisted (in 1950) and suffered from the long period of paranoid hysteria with the McCarthy Communist Trials.

On June 26, 1998, the United States Postal Service issued a 32-cent postage stamp honoring Josh White

The long way home

A living legend that changed the world with his music, so writing his story would definitely be too little. A great musician that remained loyal to his believes, he is one of the last honest ones that respects his work and never wasted one song for easy money.(he systematically refuses to be paid by advertising agencies in order to give his songs – “I have adamantly and repeatedly refused this dubious honor.”he claims)
The long way home became mass popular by Norah Jones which is equally nice, but hearing it from Tom Waits’ smokey voice is breathtaking. You can find this song in the album
Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers & Bastards

Redux

Awesome song and video, by the amazing As The Stars Fall! The former song of that band was simply brilliant but this is totally different and equally good. An upcoming band that doesn’t afraid to experiment with their sound. Directed by Mathieu Sauer, World Wide Premier via the curious brain!
